Why Massage Therapy?
Hello and welcome, my name is Conor and I’m a Seattle-based licensed massage therapist. I’ve worked around the city in a variety of health and wellness environments. If we haven’t met before, I can’t wait to meet you and if we have, I hope this shares a little more about my personal wellness journey and how it has manifested into a new business.
My goal in this space is to create an environment of inclusivity, accessibility and healing. Here, I’ll share a little more about me, why I’ve chosen this career path and provide you with insight into how massage works and can be beneficial for your overall wellness.
Before we go further, how and why am I a massage therapist?
I’m originally from the east coast and started a career in global sales. I’ll share more in a future post but about a decade ago I decided to change course, essentially, I needed a change and landed in Chicago. From there, I came to Seattle.
I’ve always been deeply rooted in movement.
As a former NCAA athlete, training has been a way to structure my life and routines, especially in times of change. It’s also a way to help center and heal and tap into my own intuition. It was in this period of my life that I was introduced to yoga as a form of “built-in-discipline” for my mobility routine. From there I discovered the various practices and decided to do a teacher training. There I learned that I was a better instructor when I participated with my students and helped them through hands-on adjustments, stretching, deepening and lengthening thier poses. By the end of that year, I was enrolled in massage therapy school and getting ready for a wildly new chapter.
So, here we are. The pandemic left me as many of us in a tailspin. But I believe I’ve been brought to this moment, it feels intentional, purposeful and what I was meant to be doing. I created Conor Mac Massage to fulfill what I now believe is my life’s mission, to heal.
